My Journey as a Translator & Interpreter:
A Life Filled with Languages Growing up in Artigas, a Uruguayan town on the border with Brazil, exposed me to both Spanish and Portuguese from a young age. These weren't just school subjects, they were the languages of my daily life, instilling in me a love for communication across cultures.
By 18, my fascination with languages had become a clear career path: translation. I was drawn to the idea of bridging communication gaps and fostering understanding. With this goal in mind, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Translation in 2008.
My initial translation work involved various legal documents. However, translating patents in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and biochemistry, and researching about my own lupus diagnosis sparked a strong interest in scientific research and medical papers. I enjoyed the challenge of diving deep into complex topics to deliver accurate translations. This passion led me to pursue a Master's Degree in Medical and Health Translation in 2012 (Valencia, Spain).
While teaching translation at a leading Brazilian university (Universidade de Brasilia, UnB), I began interpreting for various events. These experiences fueled a new passion, and I pursued specialized training in conference interpreting through courses and mentorship programs.
For the past 14 years, I've worked as a freelance Certified Medical Translator & Conference Interpreter. My working languages include English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Dutch, which I learned after living and studying in the Netherlands for 8 years.
Translation and interpreting require constant learning. I regularly attend workshops and courses to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements, ensuring I provide high-quality services to my global clients.
My passion for languages continues to be the driving force behind my work, allowing me to connect people and ideas across cultures and borders.
